We’re now on our last leg of our trip. It’s hard to believe it’s going to be over soon. Today we checked out of our house in Ruakaka and hit the road again. Our first stop was Aukland where we needed to turn the car in and get a different one. On the way down we noticed the weather really looked bad. This is a picture of Aukland. The clouds were amazingly low.
This is the Sky Tower. The top part that the oversees the whole city couldn’t even be seen.
This poor fellow was caught in the rain once it hit. It wasn’t until later that night that we heard a tornado had come through. Luckily, we made it to the airport around 12:30. The tornado came through west of Aukland at 1:00. I commented to Matt while we were in the airport as I looked outside that it was raining incredibly hard, we may be here longer than we thought.
After the stormed passed we headed toward Hamilton and Temple View. The temple was beautiful. I didn’t realize that it was the 5th temple completed. I knew it was an early one, I just didn’t realize that early.
While there we met the missionaries in the Visitor’s Center. One was from Pleasant Grove, one of the few people along our way that knew where Elk Ridge was.
All of these pictures were taken inside the Visitor’s Center. It was really beautiful and well done.
We came back later that night to see the Christmas lights. They were spectacular, nothing short of what we had anticipated.
